Where every child matters, bright futures begin!

P3/4

We have learned all about 2D shapes. These photos show how we can use the shapes to make pictures using base cards. Next, we are going to make our own images. We hope you enjoy looking at them.

We enjoyed using art materials to design and make our very own paper bag house. These are for our class wall display. It was great to hear the ‘chat’ in the classroom about the different parts of the house front that were needed. Lots of langauage surrounding shape was also developed. Well done everyone- we can’t wait to see the finished products.

We have started our Reading Partners programme along with Primary 6 & 7 children. We are looking forward to sharing in reading and developing our oracy over the coming weeks,

P3 and 4 are learning all about Verbs. We used the playground to find verb cards. We wrote these down on our clipboard sheets. After that, we choose a verb card from the tray. The pupils took turns in performing the verb so their classmates could guess what they were doing. This was great fun and really well completed.

We worked in mixed ability groups to develop mathematical language with our partners- we found 10 more and 10 less on a hundred square.

We took our literacy learning outdoors and completed an alphabetical order word sort. The children all worked carefully to choose 3 word cards, order them alphabetically and record these answers on their record sheet. Super effort!

We continued our work on alphabetical order by sorting letter cards and using interactive software to practise putting letters in order. Great work from everyone!

We have started to learn about alphabetical order. In these photos we arranged ourselves into alphabetical order according to the first letter of our name and then our surname. We then moved around the different desks to sort magnetic letters into alphabetical order. There was great engagement and super ordering from the pupils.

We took our numeracy learning outdoors this morning, making the most of the sunny start to the day. The pupils were challenged to sort 2 and 3 digit number cards. The extra space and fresh air made for a focused and enjoyable session.

Our WAU topic this term is Houses and Homes.

We drew pictures of our own houses and are looking forward to seeing them completed.

We used our whiteboards and number cards to demonstrate our understanding of before and after. Excellent work everybody!

To get to know our numbers, P3 and 4 paired up and worked together to test each other on numbers before, after and between. This activity was a great introduction to numbers to 100 for P3 and helped P4 develop their mathematical language while also revising numbers.

Look at US! On our first day back at school, P3 & 4 painted their mirror selfies for our class wall display! We think they look FAB! Well done everyone!
